How our charity events work.
Dragon Boating is a fantastic way for you to raise money. Our dragon boating events are bright, energetic, fun and exciting and because no previous experience is necessary, are ideal for novice crews! With over fifteen years experience in supplying charity dragon boat events throughout the UK and over £9 million raised as a result, our friendly and experienced team will both help and advise you if this is you first dragon boat event.
What is involved in holding an event?
All you need to do is to:
• Decide what size of event you want (how many teams),
• Where you want to hold it,
• Contract us to run your event!
You can now devote your time to simply recruiting the teams and leave the rest to us!
How does Charity Dragon Boating and the fund raising work?
Our dragon boats can hold from eight to sixteen paddlers, plus a drummer.
Each team will pay an entry fee to take part in your event and each person in the team is encouraged to raise money for you. With sufficient teams, your event's costs will be completely covered by the team’s entry fee, leaving all the sponsorship raised as pure income for you.
How much can you make?
We find that most of our clients enter between fifteen and thirty teams and that an average of £50 - £100 per person is raised. This works out at around £1,000 - £2,000 per team in potential sponsorship. So for a fifteen team event, you could be looking at anything from £15,000 - £30,000. Obviously there will be exceptions either way and these figures should only be taken as a guide as to what can be raised, not what will be raised.
Figures reported back to us from our clients over a single year found that ther smallest event raised around £9,000 whilst the largest event raised over £165,000!
